Kaleidoscope Film Distribution and Goldfinch Studios are partnering on the upcoming psychological thriller “Kruger,” to be shot in South Africa in March.

“Kruger” marks the directorial debut for British actor-producer Craig Conway(“Giantland”). The project is fully financed by Goldfinch Entertainment, and produced by Kirsty Bell and Craig Conway of Bird Box Pictures, a Goldfinch Studio company.

The movie is set within the vast and dangerous backdrop of South Africa’s Kruger National Park, focusing on a dysfunctional family’s attempts to survive. Casting is under way. “Kruger” was unveiled Saturday at the American Film Market in Santa Monica.

Kaleidoscope’s Spencer Pollard said: “We are excited to be working with Goldfinch Studios on this highly commercial genre film that we believe stands every chance of standing out in the marketplace next year. Craig’s vision and the team behind the film should lead to a lot of interest as we package the film and announce cast in the near future.”

GSP to Become 'Goldfinch Studios'

GSP to Become 'Goldfinch Studios'

We wish to share some important news regarding Goldfinch Entertainment and GSP Studios.

Over the last 4 years the businesses have grown increasingly closer and more successful.  GSP Studios is now the largest Independent Studio and Producer in the UK.  It was most recently identified by the BFI as the most prolific production company in the UK, having produced 13 films with a combined budget of £39M between 2014-2016, such as SOLIS starring Steven Ogg, MAD TO BE NORMAL starring David Tennant, and THAT GOOD NIGHT starring Sir John Hurt.

Goldfinch Entertainment has an enviable reputation as an Executive Producer having raised and deployed over £75m in nearly 4 years, into productions such as LE MANS: RACING IS EVERYTHING, HECTOR starring Peter Mullan, Chanya Button’s BURN BURN BURN, 2016’s award-wining drama, MY FERAL HEART, THE CARER starring Brian Cox and THE EICHMANN SHOW with Martin Freeman and Anthony LaPaglia. Recently the team launched Bird Box Pictures, their production arm, and have completed GIANTLAND and GATECRASH with an enviable slate ahead of them.

None of this would have been possible without both businesses, the teams, our industry partners and our investors.  For this we would like to say thank you and assure you that we value your continued support greatly.

As acknowledgement of this, Goldfinch Entertainment will join forces with GSP Studios, which will operate as ‘Goldfinch Studios’ going forward.  Furthermore Goldfinch Studios will become the umbrella brand under which Goldfinch Entertainment and Bird Box Pictures will operate in their own distinctive and complementary areas.

This move represents several years of hypergrowth in both businesses and an increasingly close working practices and relationship.  Goldfinch Studios will restructure the production arm, studio and post facility in York, continue the structuring and financing business of Goldfinch Entertainment, as well as develop commercial content through Bird Box Pictures, Goldfinch production companies, and 3rd party producers.

This is a hugely exciting move, and one that sets up Goldfinch Studios to be an industry leader in the UK and internationally across Film and TV providing expertise across finance, production and facilities, including editing, post and VFX.

An announcement has already been featured on Screen Daily, Deadline and Variety.

Our senior team will be attending AFM under our new moniker.  If you wish to meet then please contact us on

Once again we thank you for all your support on our journey so far and we look forward to the start of new chapter together as Goldfinch Studios.

Kind Regards,

Kirsty Bell (CEO) & Alan Latham (COO)

Bird Box Pictures Gatecrash featured in Screen Daily

Bird Box Pictures are now in production on GATECRASH - an adaptation of the hard-hitting, Edinburgh Fringe First Award-winning play, ‘Life’s a Gatecrash’, written for the screen by playwright Terry Hughes, with Alan Pattison & Lawrence Gough, who co-wrote the 2009 thriller, SALVAGE.

Gough is directing GATECRASH, his feature film follow-up to SALVAGE. The film is the third to be produced by Bird Box Pictures’ Craig Conway and Executive Producer Kirsty Bell, in association with Goldfinch Entertainment, following Shaun Robert Smith’s BROKEN in 2016 and this year’s GIANT LAND, starring Hayley Squires and currently in post-production.

First announced in Cannes earlier this year, GATECRASH is a dark, twisted psychological thriller which follows Nicole (French-born Olivia Bonamy) and Steve (Ben Cura- television’s Marcella) as they discover themselves to be the protagonists of a terrible hit and run situation; with the evidence suggesting this was no accident.

The film co-stars Samuel West (ON CHESIL BEACH, SUFFRAGETTE) as a menacing witness to the accident, and Anton Lesser (A UNITED KINGDOM, television’s Game of Thrones) as their victim.

GATECRASH is shooting through mid- October, with an intense 22-day schedule at GSP Studios in York. The production will boast a 360-degree composite set at the studio facility, allowing performance and pace to be shot and captured in real-time takes of up to 30 minutes per act, across three acts, in order to capture the story’s theatrical rawness as well as its cinematic scope.

Independent, London-based production outfit Bird Box Pictures (formerly BB88), has an eclectic film slate that includes BHARAL- directed by Jake L Reid (THE ANTWERP DOLLS) with Sebastian Foucan (widely recognised as the founder of free-running/parkour) and Kelsey Grammer on board to star. Also on the slate is the big budget VIGILANTE, a co-production with Mann Made films. KRUGER marks the directorial debut of actor/producer Craig Conway (DOG SOLDIERS, THE DESCENT, MARA, FINAL SCORE); this dark psychological thriller/horror set within the vast and dangerous backdrop of South Africa’s Kruger National Park, twists a dysfunctional family’s attempts to repair into a desperate attempt for survival. The team are hoping to attach a sales agent for AFM, now that the project is fully-financed and greenlit, to head in to production in South Africa in March 2018.
